A lot of snow fell over the past four days – like about 43 inches of it. No big deal for Syracuse. I like the nice thick blanket that now covers my garden, so full of food still.
The strawberries are resting under their namesake straw. The asparagus is waiting patiently for signs of warmth, months off, that will tell it to push those little stalks sunward. The parsnips are sweetening down in the dirt and the garlic bed is still safe from marauding squirrels under its hardware wire. I managed to get one of the beds all ready for spring planting before this storm, so I can get the spinach and radishes out with little fuss four months from now. I might even build a cold frame over it in March and see if I can get two full crops out of that bed before next winter.
