With farmer Della’s permission, I’m reprinting this wonderful announcement that she recently sent her customers. We’ve been getting all our meat from her for the past four or five months and really love it. What’s more, we think Della is simply an angel.

    Hi Y’all.
A few weeks ago I offered a reduced reservation fee that included a discount for reservees off the price of our Certified Organic No-Soy Pasture Raised Chickens to be harvested this coming year throughout the summer and fall.

As if that wasn’t good enough I am additionally offering freebie heritage breed chickens with your reserved purchase of our meat chickens.

You probably have heard about the destruction of male chicks of egg laying breeds, which are essentially all of the heritage breed chickens.

I routinely “rescue” day old chicks from the hatchery that would be thrown out otherwise and (more…)

Got this email today from Beth Southwick of Treasures of Joy Farm, and just in time as we’re about out of eggs!

My husband and I have a farm here in CNY in the Nedrow area.  We raise pastured beef, pork, chicken, eggs and chevron (goat).  We are also raising vegetables on a small scale this year.  We are not certified organic, but try to use low input and sustainable practices.  Where we supplement with grain we use locally raised and milled grains that are raised conventionally, not organically.

Currently we have beef, pork and eggs for sale.  Beef is $4.50 per lb. for 25 lb. pkgs.  – $112 for the whole package.  Packages have a variety of cuts, several with ground beef and several without.  Beef by the cut is $5.00 / lb.  Beef has been only grass and hay fed.  They do not routinely receive antibiotics.

Pork is sold by the cut and ranges in price from $2.25 to $3.50 / lb. The pork currently in the freezer has been raised out of doors, fed day old bakery scraps, supplemented with hay and grain as needed.

The chickens that lay eggs are free-range, meaning that they can go wherever they want, scratching and pecking to their hearts delight. They receive grain and oyster shells.  Eggs are brown eggs and $3.00 per dozen.  Refrigerator is quite full as this is the season that chickens lay prolifically.

Feel free to contact me off list with additional questions.  Someone is usually always here, but calling to confirm will make sure we are looking for you.

Locally grown food is the way to eat,  whether it comes from your garden and yard or from the farmer down the road!
