I’ve eaten many very tasty Caribbean style meals here. They are Spanish speakers, although they all speak English as well. I haven’t been there recently, though I read in the paper that they have changed their focus to working with a church, so I’m not sure if they’re still operating as a regular restaurant.
Munjed’s: 530 Westcott St, Syracuse, (315) 425-0366
Very good middle eastern fare. I like this place a lot. Very tasty food, friendly, fun waitstaff, modestly priced. They have the best pastitsio (a Greek dish!) I’ve had around here.
I miss the days when they had oud music there. Years ago, I remember being there one afternoon when SU was in the NCAA tournament. They had the tournament on TV in the restaurant. Shortly after they lost, Rony Seikaly walked in with his girlfriend. It was somewhat surreal, having just seen him on TV, and everyone consoled the dispirited giant. I remember how tiny his girlfriend seemed in comparison to him.

Nice atmosphere, and very good food. Somewhat upscale with chic decor. Bonus for men of the male persuasion: some very lovely waitresses here.
Komachi: 232 Harrison St, Syracuse, (315) 476-2400
A great place to get sushi. We’ve been here a bunch of times, and thoroughly enjoyed it, both lunch and dinner.
One friend tried some Japanese on the waitress, and got no response. This led him to opine that they may actually be Korean. To be honest, I don’t know, but I was not entirely convinced that he just may have had bad pronunciation. 
The only small quibble I’ve had with them is the very large TV that they always have on, albeit without sound.
Eva’s European Sweets: 1305 Milton Ave, Syracuse, (315) 487-2722.
Truly one of the best places to eat in the Syracuse area. Mostly Polish food. We go here a lot, and have brought many of our friends there, more than any other place in town (with the possible exception of New Century).
Don’t walk, run to this excellent restaurant. Great homestyle entrees, extremely friendly service, comfortable, lovely atmosphere, beautiful homemade desserts, reasonable prices. Bonus: a phenomenal beer selection, IMO, the best in town… much of it is foreign and possibly unfamiliar, but the menu is vividly descriptive of each offering, even showing alcohol percentages. Eva is one of the nicest, most valuable people in this town as far as I’m concerned!

Good food, convenient Syracuse University location. Still, we prefer Sahota Palace in Liverpool as the best Indian food in the area.

We feel that this is the best Indian food in the Syracuse area. It’s a fun, pleasingly decorated place, and we bring friends here repeatedly.
Ponchito’s: 3800 New Court Av, Syracuse, (315) 218-0294
Funny spelling aside, we love this informal roadside-style Mexican eatery. More for takeout, though we do eat in frequently. There’s a much longer article about it and a menu on the Walkable Eastwood website.
Mario & Salvo’s Pizza: 4326 East Genesee St, Syracuse, (315) 446-8479
Actually more of a takeout than a restaurant, though you can eat there. We like the pizza with eggplant!
Dante’s: 215 Walton St, Syracuse, (315) 479-9383
Decidedly upscale, Dante’s has possibly the most underappreciated chef in Syracuse. This guy is brilliant and it shows in his cooking. Half the menu is Italian, and you should try it. But there’s Italian, great and not-so-great, in every corner of Onondaga County. At Dante’s, don’t miss the only opportunity in the entire Central New York region to try dishes and tapas that are Spanish – meaning the Spain variety. Think paella, jamón serrano, queso manchego, boquerones. You’ll be inspired to hop a plane to Madrid.
Santangelo’s: 673 Old Liverpool Rd, Liverpool, (315) 457-4447
A long-time favorite, well worth the slight drive out of the city. Everything is done right here: nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff, food that is consistently really delicious and at times creative. Between the two of us, we’ve eaten here dozens of times and have never once gotten a bad meal.
