I love the steaks at Dinosaur. I have had both their Ribeye and the Strip Steak, and they are both delicious! I always get a good meal with great sides and the prices are the best part!

I would leave Prime off the list of great steaks, locally Cora D's has a decent steak and The Inn Between always serves a great meal,if you are willing to travel there is a great staekhouse just outside of batavia called the Red Osier

Based on recent experiences (past two years) and much word of mouth I would leave Saratoga Steaks off the list. The Scotch, Justin's, most likely the Retreat, Redfield's and the Genesee Grande (technically it's 1060 at the Genesee Grande - the Genesee Inn name was dropped awhile back) all seem like good possibilities.

I think of Kitty Hoynes as pub food - not so sure about steaks but you never know. Danzer's? I'd scratch them off the list for any food but especially would not steer someone there for steak (no apologies for the pun Mr. Chu).

Other possibilities: Steak frites at L'Adour or better yet at Dijon Bistro in Ithaca. Either one is hanger steak - not a cut that all steak lovers are enthused about but if done correctly it's very tasty (the frites at Dijon are superior to those at L'Adour not to mention being better than the frites I've ever had anywhere else - Paris and NYC included).

Oddly... but perhaps not... I think the Italian food at Delmonico's Italian Steak House is very good but the steaks are mediocre at best. At least they got 1 out of 2 right.

The Dining Forum at syracuse.com has one regualr poster who plugs for Daniella's Steak House regularly. I visited there about 8 or 9 months ago and had a steak but was unimpressed.

I have not tried Prime over on South Geddes but have read many many favorable reports about the quality of the beef they serve. A few of their steaks are actually USDA Prime and others are Choice. The prices are where you'd expect them to be for the Prime cuts (high just as they are everywhere - have you priced Prime beef at Wegman's lately?) but reasonable for the Choice. It's a strictly a la carte menu but if you just want a hunk-o-beef and a glass of wine you could probably get out of there without burning a hole in your wallet.
